Tottenham transfers: Lyon confirm imminent Clinton Njie switch
Tottenham look to be closing in on the signing of 21-year-old striker Clinton Njie from Lyon
Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of completing a transfer swoop to sign Clinton Njie from Lyon in a reported €14m deal, the Ligue 1 club have confirmed.
The north London side have been heavily linked with a bid to sign the striker from the French outfit in recent days as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his attacking options at White Hart Lane.
Now, it appears that Spurs are closing in on a deal to sign the forward, with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirming that a transfer is close to being completed.
“Tottenham absolutely want Njie,” Aulas told French radio station RMC.
“We are close to an agreement. I want to thank [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy for having a coherent offer.”
Tottenham fired a blank as they lost 1-0 to Manchester United in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Saturday thanks to Kyle Walker’s first-half own goal.
Spurs return to Premier League action when they take on Stoke City in their first home game of the season at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
