Tottenham transfers: Ronald Koeman gives Victor Wanyama update
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says Tottenham target Victor Wanyama is not for sale
Ronald Koeman says Southampton won’t sell Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Kenyan midfielder was omitted from Southampton’s match-day squad amid continued talk of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
They will stay at Southampton, I’m 100 percent sure about that
Mane, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Manchester United after he scored 10 goals in 32 games in the Premier League last season.
But Southampton manager Koeman, who has already sold Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne this summer, is adamant Mane and Waynama won’t be allowed to leave the south-coast club.
“[Sadio] Mane is the type of player who makes a difference, he’s an important player for us and one we won’t sell,” Koeman told BBC Sport.
“Victor Wanyama is a key player and for him the answer is the same as for Sadio. They will stay at Southampton, I’m 100 percent sure about that.”
Mane teed up Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic for two of Southampton’s goals in a 3-0 victory over Norwich City at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
Wanyama moved to Southampton from Celtic in 2013 after current Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino lured the Kenya international to the south coast.
Southampton, who crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday night, moved up to tenth place in the table after their comfortable win.
