Van Gaal gives latest Man United injury update ahead of Swansea trip
Adnan Januzaj will not play for Manchester United at Swansea on Sunday due to injury
Adnan Januzaj has been ruled out of Manchester United’s trip to Swansea this weekend due to injury, Louis van Gaal has revealed.
The Dutchman confirmed that the Belgium youngster will sit out Sunday’s clash at the Liberty Stadium after picking up an injury ahead of the Premier League trip.
Speaking to MUTV on Friday, Van Gaal said: “Adnan Januzaj was injured and because of that he was out of the team. He shall not play against Swansea.”
The Dutchman also said that Marouane Fellaini could feature at the Liberty Stadium, while Phil Jones remains sidelined with mild thrombosis.
Van Gaal also delivered an update on defender Marcos Rojo, who is continuing to work on his fitness after enjoying an extended summer holiday following his involvement in the Copa America with Argentina.
Rojo played for an hour on Thursday as United’s Under-21s sealed a victory over Ajax’s second team during a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Aon Training Complex.
And Van Gaal was pleased with the performance and the progress of his players.
He continued: “We won 2-1 and it was a good match. A lot of players could play for 90 minutes and that is also good for the building up of all the players who are not playing in the first squad.
“More than six [first-team] players played and Rojo also played for 60 minutes, so it was very important.”
United are currently fourth in the table after taking seven points from their opening three games.
