Andy Cole runs rule over Man United signing’s potential debut

Former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole discusses Anthony Martial's potential debut against Liverpool

Andy Cole says he is hoping that Manchester United signing Anthony Martial can make a goal-scoring debut against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The 19-year-old joined the 20-time English champions in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side Monaco on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Martial, who has scored just 11 goals in 52 top-flight appearances in France, is the most-expensive teenager in European football.

And former United striker Cole is hoping Martial can have the perfect impact for the Reds Devils and net the winner against bitter rivals Liverpool.

United were 3-0 winners against the Reds in the clash last season.

The Red Devils are in fifth place and level on seven points with Arsenal and Liverpool.

The five-time European champions lost their most recent Premier League game 3-0 to West Ham United.

Van Gaal’s side, meanwhile, surrendered a leading position to suffer a 2-1 defeat by Swansea City.
