Arsenal 2 Olympiacos 3: Player ratings as Alexis Sanchez nets

Player ratings as Arsenal limp to successive Champions League defeats

Arsenal

David Ospina By far the worst player on the pitch and the Arsenal goalkeeper got what he deserved for dropping the ball on his own line. Mistakes of such nature on the highest stage are unacceptable, particularly with Petr Cech sitting on the bench. 4/10

Gabriel Paulista Battled well with the visitors but was caught out in the first half and made a risky two-footed challenge on the stroke of half-time. 7

Kieran Gibbs A good defensive performance overall but was wasteful in position. 6

Laurent Koscielny Suffered a hamstring injury in the second half but made some important interceptions. 7

Hector Bellerin Proved vital on the whole in one-on-one situations as Olympiacos looked to counter-attack. 6

Santi Cazorla Failed to break through the Olympiacos defence and dictated the tempo from deep for Arsenal but lack pace. 7

Francis Coquelin Returned to the starting line-up from injury but lacked creativity as Arsenal chased the game and was subbed in the 60th minute. 6

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Appeared to lack confidence and fired a shot into the side netting from a tight angle early on in the game. 7

Mesut Ozil Was physically outmuscled by the Greek opponents. He saw plenty of ball but failed to find a killer pass. 6

Alexis Sanchez Always Arsenal’s best player. Threatened with his pace and movement – and deserved his goal. Created plenty of chances for his team before setting up Walcott. 8

Theo Walcott Couldn’t create space but linked up well with Sanchez. 8

Substitutes

Per Mertesacker Replaced the injured Koscielny. 6

Aaron Ramsey Replaced Coquelin in the 60th minute and didn’t have an effect at all and blazed a shot over from 30 yards. 6
