Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger runs rule over Tottenham’s season
Arsene Wenger is expecting a closely-contested game at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night
Arsene Wenger says that he is expecting a very even game when Arsenal travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Gunners head into the clash on the back of two successive defeats – by Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea – as they look to return to winning ways against their bitter local rivals.
Tottenham appear to have put their stuttering start to the season behind them, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men secure back-to-back wins in the Premier League to leave them just one point behind Arsenal in the top-flight table.
And the Frenchman concedes that Spurs’ recent form, coupled with Arsenal’s losses, is likely to pave the way for an even game at White Hart Lane in midweek.
Wenger told Arsenal Player: “They had a slow start but since then they have had two good wins, so that will have boosted their confidence.
“It makes you think it will be a very even game tomorrow.”
The Arsenal boss also called on his side to put in a solid performance after the Gunners saw three red cards in their last two games.”
The Gunners manager added: “I believe we were unfortunate in Zagreb to have a man sent off, and at Chelsea as well, but you want your players to behave in a perfect way and not to show any response at all.
“We have shown our frustration a little bit in both situations and you cannot afford that.”
