Arsenal deliver latest Jack Wilshere injury update
Jack Wilshere is set to undergo an operation to fix hairline fracture in his left leg
Jack Wilshere is set to undergo surgery on a hairline fracture in his left leg which will keep the midfielder sidelined for the next three months, Arsenal have confirmed.
The Gunners midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the north London side in the Premier League this term after Wilshere suffered the injury during pre-season.
Last week, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed that the England international had experienced a “little setback” in his rehabilitation from the problem.
And the 23-year-old won’t feature for the FA Cup winners before mid-December after Arsenal revealed Wilshere required surgery to solve the injury problem.
An Arsenal statement read: “Due to a slow healing response from a fracture suffered in August, the club can confirm that Jack Wilshere is to undergo an operation to his left fibula.
“The decision to intervene has been taken quickly after regular reviews by specialists, who feel that Jack’s scans show that the healing process is not progressing as well as expected.
“Jack will have surgery in London in the forthcoming days. This will involve inserting a small plate in his left fibula. Jack is likely to be out for approximately three months.
“Everyone at the club wishes Jack well with his rehabilitation.”
Wilshere was sidelined for five months last season following a ankle injury against Manchester United in November last year.
The promising Arsenal midfielder made a return to first-team action in a 3-1 victory over Hull City before he helped the Gunners retain their FA Cup crown at Wembley.
