Arsenal new-boy Petr Cech gushes with praise for Mesut Ozil
Petr Cech heaps praise on Mesut Ozil following the goalkeeper's transfer to Arsenal from Chelsea
Petr Cech has heaped praise on Mesut Ozil following the goalkeeper’s arrival at Arsenal from Chelsea this summer.
The Czech Republic international is settling into life at Emirates Stadium after he opted to leave Stamford Bridge and join the Blues’ London rivals.
Cech has been in decent form for the north London side since his move, and kept another clean sheet as Arsenal beat Stoke City 2-0 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Arsene Wenger’s men moved up to third place in the Premier League table.
And the veteran shot-stopper says that he has been most impressed by Germany playmaker Ozil since his move to Emirates Stadium, claiming that the World Cup winner does not get the credit he deserves.
Cech told Arsenal’s website: “There are a number of players here that you play against and you know that the player has great technique, great passing, and so on,’ Cech said.
“But then you train with them and you see them play, and you realise that some of them have really special qualities.
“People always speak about Mesut and the way he has great passing ability. He has but when you see him running, it’s not only about his passing.
“He’s a far more complete player than just his passing.
“You are aware of certain things when you play against players, but when you play with them you realise they are really important.”
Cech is gearing up for a return to Stamford Bridge this weekend, with Arsenal set to take on Chelsea in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off in west London.
