Arsenal transfers: Karim Benzema did want Gunners move, claims expert
Karim Benzema did consider a transfer to Arsenal during the summer window, says Spanish football expert
Karim Benzema did consider a transfer to Arsenal during the summer window, according to reports.
The France international forward was heavily linked with a transfer to Emirates Stadium throughout the summer as manager Arsene Wenger considered bolstering his attacking options at the north London club.
However, a move failed to materialise and the Gunners ended up being one of the only top sides in Europe not to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window.
Now, Spanish football expert Enrique Marin has claimed that Benzema was indeed interested in a possible move to Arsenal during the summer months, before he eventually changed his mind and opted to stay at Real Madrid.
Writing in El Confidencial, Marin suggested that Benzema signalled his interest in a move to the Premier League outfit before having a change of heart.
Arsenal ended up signing just goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea during the summer, despite being linked with moves for a host of players.
