Arsenal transfers: Karim Benzema responds to talk of summer move

Karim Benzema insists that there was never any truth in the reports linking him with a summer transfer to Arsenal

Karim Benzema has insisted that there was never any truth in the reports linking him with a big-money transfer to Arsenal from Real Madrid this summer.

The France international was heavily linked with a move to Emirates Stadium throughout the summer as Arsene Wenger considered bolstering his attacking options ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.

Benzema continued to be touted as a possible transfer target for Arsenal in the closing stages of the summer window, despite the player’s insistence that he was happy at Real Madrid and had no intention of leaving the club.

Now, the France striker has spoken out about the speculation, insisting that he never had any intention of quitting the La Liga outfit despite the link to the Premier League club.

Benzema told Telefoot: “There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid.

“I’m happy at my current club, it’s the best in the world. I’ll continue to work here and be happy where I am.”
