Arsene Wenger: Mesut Ozil really upset after Arsenal victory
Arsene Wenger reveals Mesut Ozil's frustration at not getting on the scoresheet during Arsenal's win at Leicester City
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil was “really upset” at not getting on the scoresheet during Arsenal’s thumping 5-2 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
Alexis Sanchez scored a hat-trick and goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud handed Wenger’s men an impressive victory at the King Power Stadium.
The 26-year-old Ozil provided an assist for Sanchez as he played the full 90 minutes against the Foxes but failed to net himself.
Ozil is yet to score for Arsenal in all competitions this season, and Wenger has revealed that the Germany playmaker has been frustrated by his inability to find the net so far this term.
“It [Ozil’s assist for Sanchez] was classy and the little frustration I have today is that he could not score a goal or the chance he had,” Wenger told his post-match news conference.
“He is really upset because he knows he needs a goal as well, but the ball he gave to Alexis was fantastic.”
Ozil will be hoping to get off the mark this season when Arsenal host Olympiacos in the Champions League group stage at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Gunners then return to Premier League action with a home clash against leaders Manchester United next Sunday afternoon.
