Ashley Young reveals conversations with Man United’s Luke Shaw
Ashley Young reveals that he has been in regular contact with Luke Shaw since the Manchester United defender's injury
Ashley Young has revealed that he has been regular contact with Luke Shaw as the Manchester United defender continues his rehabilitation from his broken leg.
The left-back underwent surgery earlier this month after suffering a double fracture of his right leg during United’s Champions League loss to PSV Eindhoven.
The England international is now back home and revealed on Saturday that he has been able to put weight on his leg for the first time since the operation.
And Young says that he and all of his team-mates have been keeping in touch with the former Southampton star during a tough period for the 20-year-old.
Young told United’s website: “Everyone has been in touch with him. I have personally spoken to him quite a bit. As the manager said he’s very positive. He’s got to stay that way because obviously it’s a long road to recovery. But he’ll have the medical department looking after and knowing exactly what he needs to do to come back.
“Even the day after it happened he was positive and upbeat which I think for a lot of the players and staff was surprising after such a horrific injury, and when he returns to the training ground everyone will be there for him.”
Manchester United moved to the top of the Premier League on Saturday thanks to a 3-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford as they continued their good run of form.
The Red Devils are next in Premier League action when they travel to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
