Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand take to Twitter after Wayne Rooney sets new England record with 50 goals

Wayne Rooney became England’s record all-time goal-scorer after the Manchester United striker scored a late penalty in a 2-0 victory over Switzerland at Wembley on Tuesday night.

The 29-year-old broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time record with his 50th goal for the Three Lions at the home of English football after Harry Kane broke the deadlock with his third goal in four games for his national team.
