Chelsea signing Pedro runs rule over Jose Mourinho
Chelsea signing Pedro Rodriguez says Jose Mourinho is different face-to-face after his move to Stamford Bridge
Pedro Rodriguez says Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is “very different” face-to-face.
The Spain international moved to the defending Premier League champions in a £21.1m deal last month after he decided to call time on his spell at Camp Nou.
He values and respects his players and demands much from them
Pedro was part of Pep Guardiola’s great Barcelona side that proved a thorn in Mourinho’s side during his time in charge of their bitter rivals Real Madrid.
But the 52-year-old Chelsea manager has already won over the 27-year-old in a matter of weeks after Pedro spoke in glowing terms about Mourinho.
“He is very different face-to-face,” Pedro is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“He treats you like one of his family. He values and respects his players and demands much from them.”
Pedro scored his first Chelsea goal on his Premier League debut as the World Cup winner helped his new club seal a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
However, the two-time European championship winner vowed never to celebrate a goal against Barcelona should Pedro face the Catalan side in the future.
“It was very hard to leave Barcelona and I will never celebrate a goal against them, because the club gave me everything.”
Pedro won five La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys and three Champions League crowns during his Barcelona career.
