Chelsea star Diego Costa determined to improve goal record
Chelsea striker Diego Costa accepts he must improve his goal-scoring form after a subdued start to the season
Diego Costa says he must improve his goal record at Chelsea.
The Spain international has struggled to hit his prolific heights of last season in Chelsea’s opening four games of the Premier League campaign.
There will be no lack of effort on my part. I’ll keep working hard at my club to improve
Costa netted his only Premier League goal in a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns but failed to score against Swansea City, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
And the 26-year-old refused to make any excuses for his disappointing goal-scoring form ahead of the west London side’s trip to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
“I’ve got a lot to improve and I’ve got to start scoring goals,” Costa is quoted as saying by AS.
“There will be no lack of effort on my part. I’ll keep working hard at my club to improve.”
Costa scored 20 goals in 26 games in his first season in the Premier League last season.
The Chelsea striker moved to the defending English champions in a £32m deal from Atletico Madrid last summer.
The Spanish striker helped Chelsea win the Premier League and the League Cup in his debut season at the west London club.
