David De Gea discusses his Man United future

David De Gea says he is staying "calm" about his future as he prepares to return to Manchester United

David De Gea insists that he is remaining “calm” about his Manchester United future as he bids to force his way back into the Red Devils’ starting line-up.

The Spanish goalkeeper is yet to feature for United this season after being left out of his club’s opening four Premier League games as he continued to be linked with a transfer to Real Madrid during the summer window.

De Gea was on the verge of securing a move to the Spanish outfit but the transfer fell through at the last minute, leaving the shot-stopper with no choice but to remain at Old Trafford.

Summer signing Sergio Romero has started all of United’s Premier League games in De Gea’s absence, but the Spaniard says he is now focused on winning back his place in Louis van Gaal’s first-team.

De Gea is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo: “My future will be the same as it is now – stay calm, keep working and improving. In short, enjoy football. I am happy.

“I felt good [on Tuesday]. I was eager to play. Now it is about keeping working and seeing if I am also lucky with my club.

“The support I have received is very important. I have some great colleagues and I am grateful to everyone.”

The goalkeeper will be hoping to feature when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
