Dwight Yorke: Why Tottenham star Harry Kane needs to chill out
Former Man United striker Dwight Yorke says Tottenham star Harry Kane is trying to hard to impress
Dwight Yorke says Harry Kane needs to chill out after the Tottenham Hotspur striker extended his goalless Premier League run to five games.
The England international failed to find the net as Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason scored a late winner in a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.
It will happen for him, there’s no doubt. He’s too good a player for it not to happen for him
Kane, who was named the PFA’s young player of the year last season, scored against San Marino and Switzerland in England’s recent Euro 2016 qualifying wins.
Former Aston Villa and Manchester United striker Yorke, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble-winning side in 1999, says Kane is putting himself under too much pressure to end his goalless run.
“He needs to chill out a little bit,” Yorke told Sky Sports.
“We looked at him in an England shirt and now he’s in the Tottenham shirt and he just seems a different player.
“Maybe he is trying too hard. He had one or two opportunities again.
“Last year he would have passed it in, but he went for power on a couple of occasions. He just needs to relax.
“It will happen for him, there’s no doubt. He’s too good a player for it not to happen for him.”
The Three Lions striker was a revelation for the north London side last season after he scored 21 times in 34 Premier League games and a further 10 goals in 17 cup appearances.
