Eden Hazard: Why everyone wants to kill Chelsea
Eden Hazard admits Chelsea are still adapting to life as defending Premier League champions
Eden Hazard admits that it is not easy being defending Premier League champions and says every team is desperate to beat Jose Mourinho’s men.
The Blues have endured a stuttering start to the new season after coasting to the title last term while also winning the League Cup.
The west London side have won just one of their first four games and have taken just four points so far this term.
Mourinho’s men return to action with a crunch clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.
And Hazard admits that the Blues are being made to work harder than ever by their opponents as they look to find their form and climb up the table.
Hazard told Hypebeast magazine: “It’s difficult to play as a champion because everyone wants to beat you, everyone wants to kill you.
“We wear the gold badge and it’s very good.
“We had a fantastic season last season, if we could do the same this season we’d be good.”
The 24-year-old playmaker enjoyed a stellar 2014-15 campaign with Chelsea last season, helping Mourinho’s men win the title and League Cup, before being voted the PFA player of the year.
The Belgium international joined Chelsea from Lille back in 2012.
