Fantasy Football: Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and more
Here are the best picks for your Fantasy Football team ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures
Adrian (£5m) The West Ham United goalkeeper was restored to the starting line-up following his suspension for their 3-0 win at Manchester City. And the Spaniard made more saves (8) than any other Premier League goalkeeper last weekend, including the imperious David De Gea. Norwich City are the visitors at Upton Park on Saturday, providing a promising opportunity for the Hammers goalkeeper to secure a clean sheet bonus.
Kurt Zouma (£5.4m) The France international looks to be in the process of establishing himself as one of Chelsea’s first-choice centre-halves. Kurt Zouma scored the opener in a 2-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend, whilst he won three tackles, made two clearances and performed two blocks. At £5.4m, Zouma could bolster a leaky Fantasy Football defence.
Craig Cathcart (£4.5m) Watford have been defensively resilient since making the step up to the Premier League. Given the Hornets unfashionable reputation, Craig Cathcart has only been selected by 1.3 per cent of Fantasy Football players. But Watford have kept three clean sheets in their opening six Premier League games. A home fixture against Crystal Palace could result in a fourth.
Riyad Mahrez (£6.4m) As stated last week, if you don’t have Riyad Mahrez in your Fantasy Football team already, you’re really missing a trick. The Leicester City man keeps delivering for the Foxes after a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with Stoke City last weekend. The tricky winger has amassed 58 points after six games, which is comfortably more than any other Premier League player. Mahrez has the chance to run riot against Arsenal this weekend, and such is his form, he’ll probably seize the chance to shine against top-four opposition.
Juan Mata (£8.7m) The Spain international has been one of Manchester United’s most-consistent players this season. Juan Mata scored his second goal of the campaign in a 3-2 victory over Southampton. Mata scored one goal and made 34 passes in the opposition area at St Mary’s, which suggests an assist bonus isn’t too far away. He will have an opportunity to fill his boots against rudderless Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Anthony Martial (£8.3m) With Wayne Rooney still searching for his first Premier League goal of the season, it is time to jump ship and swap the United captain out and bring in Anthony Martial. The France international has already scored four goals in four games in all competitions, netting three times in the Premier League. Coming up against John O’Shea and co certainly want daunt the 19-year-old. Quickly blossoming into an indispensable Fantasy Football striker considering slow starts from big names like Diego Costa, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez.
Odion Ighalo (£5.1m) For those looking for a budget option up front, then Watford striker Odio Ighao is your man. He scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United last weekend. It took the forward’s tally to four goals in six Premier League games. Ighalo will fancy his chances of adding a fifth against Palace with home advantage at Vicarage Road.
Martial is a solid choice for captain with United facing struggling Sunderland at Old Trafford. Sergio Aguero has an impressive goal-scoring record against Tottenham for those who like to work on historic patterns.
