Former Man United star trolls Martin Skrtel over Anthony Martial goal

Former Man United man Alan Tonge takes to Twitter to reflect on Anthony Martial's debut goal at Martin Skrtel's expense

Alan Tonge is still savouring Anthony Martial’s goal after the Manchester United summer signing made a dream start to his Old Trafford career on Saturday evening.

With Liverpool halving the deficit after Christian Benteke’s stunning overheard kick, the £36m signing wiggled his way past Martin Skrtel and the rest of the Liverpool defence before he tucked away his finish to seal a 3-1 win for United.

Martial became Europe’s most-expensive teenager after his deadline day move to the 20-time English champions from Ligue 1 side Monaco, earning comparisons to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, but also branded as a gamble by ex-professionals.

And former United man Tonge couldn’t resist a little dig aimed at Liverpool centre-half Skrtel after Martial’s dramatic introduction.

Tonge also went on to assess Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool reign after further pressure was heaped on the Northern Irishman following their latest setback.

United make the trip to Southampton in the Premier League next weekend.
