Former Tottenham star hails ‘brilliant’ Arsenal
Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas says Arsenal supporters have to be happy with 2-0 win against Stoke City
Jermaine Jenas says Arsenal supporters have to be happy with Arsene Wenger’s men after their 2-0 win against Stoke City at The Emirates.
The Gunners made the breakthrough in the 30th minute thanks to Theo Walcott’s strike after the north London side had dominated the opening half.
Stoke regrouped after half-time and Gabriel Paulista was fortunate to escape punished following a clash with Potters striker Marco Anautavic.
However, Walcott’s replacement Olivier Giroud sealed three points with a late goal to secure Arsenal’s first home win of the season.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Jenas explained why Arsenal supporters couldn’t fault their side’s performance: “”If Arsenal fans aren’t happy today I don’t know what more their team can do.
“It’s been some performance, they’ve been brilliant today. OK, they haven’t put too many in the back of the net but they created so many chances.”
Arsenal climbed up to second place in the Premier League table following their 2-0 victory over the Potters.
Wenger’s men make the trip to defending champions Chelsea in their next league fixture at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
The Blues lost 3-1 to Everton earlier on Saturday.
