Gary Cahill fires warning at Arsenal ahead of Chelsea trip
Gary Cahill warns Arsenal that Chelsea are out to make a "statement" in Saturday's clash at Stamford Bridge
Gary Cahill has told his Chelsea team-mates that Saturday’s clash with Arsenal is the perfect opportunity to kick-start their season.
The Blues have made a stuttering start to their Premier League title defence and have only picked up four points from their opening five top-flight games.
Jose Mourinho’s men suffered a 3-1 loss to Everton at the weekend but returned to winning ways by thrashing Maccabi Tel-Aviv 4-0 in their Champions League group-stage opener on Wednesday evening.
And Chelsea defender Cahill has warned Arsenal that the west London side will be out to make a “statement” when they take on Arsene Wenger’s men at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime.
Cahill said on BT Sport: “We have had a difficult start, but we know the players we have got. It is just what we need, the perfect lift.
“Arsenal on Saturday is time to make a statement.”
Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table, five points behind early pace-setters Manchester City after their 2-0 win over Stoke City last weekend.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech is in line to make his first appearance at Stamford Bridge as an Arsenal player following his move from Chelsea this summer.
