Gary Neville says Chelsea don’t look like a Jose Mourinho side.
The defending Premier League champions lost their third game in five top-flight outings on Saturday afternoon after a 3-1 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park.
It’s not looking very much like a Jose Mourinho team
Chelsea are already 11 points behind early pace-setters Manchester City ahead of the visit of Arsenal at Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Former Manchester United defender Neville highlighted how the Chelsea defence is much more exposed this season after having conceded 12 goals in five Premier League games.
“They’re obviously well off where they were last season,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“When you look at this Chelsea team, it’s difficult to describe the edge.
“They’re not putting in that extra three or four yards in to cover each other. It’s exposing that back four and it’s not looking very much like a Jose Mourinho team.”
Chelsea drew 2-2 with Swansea City in their league opener before a 3-0 defeat by title rivals City at Etihad Stadium last month.
Mourinho’s men recorded their only win of the season to date at The Hawthorns after a 3-2 victory over Tony Pulis’s side.
But Chelsea relapsed with a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace in west London followed by a 3-1 thrashing at Everton.
