Harry Kane: Tottenham ‘pumped’ for Arsenal derby
The Tottenham striker is hoping to score another derby winner
Harry Kane says Tottenham Hotspur are feeling pumped for their clash against Arsenal in the League Cup third round on Wednesday night.
Spurs warmed up for their first north London derby of the season with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Everyone is going to be pumped up for it no matter who plays. Everyone knows what is at stake
Kane is still waiting for his first club goal this term after the reigning PFA young player of the year failed to score in Tottenham’s first six games of the Premier League season.
But the England international is excited to feature in the local derby clash at White Hart Lane after he scored the winner in a 2-1 victory in their most-recent meeting in February.
“I’ve some good memories from that. It is obviously a special game for everyone involved at the club,” Kane told Spurs TV.
“We’re excited and we’re focused. We’re really looking forward to it.”
Kane added: “Everyone is going to be pumped up for it no matter who plays. Everyone knows what is at stake. Everyone is going to be on their game. Hopefully the fans will get behind us at The Lane.”
Reflecting on his headed winner in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal at White Hart Lane last season, Kane vowed to add more derby winners to his collection this term.
“Nabil put the ball in and it fell so kindly. I managed to get good contact on it,” Kane added.
“It is surreal because a couple of season ago, I’m looking at other players scoring important goals for their clubs.
“Now I’m seeing myself on there, it is a good feeling. That is what you aim to achieve. Hopefully it is just the start.”
Kane scored 31 goals in 51 games in all competitions for Tottenham last season.
