Mourinho gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Arsenal showdown
Jose Mourinho delivers the latest team news ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash with Arsenal
Chelsea will be without midfielder Willian for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
The 27-year-old Brazilian was forced off in the first half of Wednesday’s 4-0 Champions League win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv and will not be fit to face the Gunners in west London.
Mourinho also revealed that Pedro Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and Oscar all remain as injury doubts for the game heading into Saturday’s showdown with their local rivals.
Mourinho told a news conference at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Friday afternoon: “I select every player for the game because we have doubts.
“Willian is not even an option. Pedro, [Radamel] Falcao, Oscar – let’s see what happens, let’s see.”
Chelsea have endured a stuttering start to their Premier League title defence, with the west London side slumping to a 3-1 loss to Everton last weekend to leave them 11 points behind early pace-setters Manchester City in the table.
The Blues, who beat Arsenal 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last season, have taken just four points from a possible 15 and have secured just one victory so far this term.
