Liverpool deny approaching former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, says Chris Bascombe

Liverpool have denied making an approach for Carlo Ancelotti, according to journalist Chris Bascombe.

On Wednesday morning, the British media reported that the Merseyside club had opened discussions with the former AC Milan and Chelsea manager over a potential appointment.

Liverpool are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Rodgers spent nearly £100m on new signings in the summer transfer window in a bid to close the gap on the Premier League top four after a sixth-place finish last season.

However, the Daily Telegraph’s Merseyside reporter Bascombe revealed that the Reds had rubbished the media speculation.

Rodgers is coming under increasing pressure ahead of their clash against Carlisle United in the League Cup third round at Anfield on Wednesday night.
