Liverpool legend says Jurgen Klopp would be perfect for the Reds
Dietmar Hamann says Jurgen Klopp would be the ideal man to take over from Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool
Dietmar Hamann believes that Jurgen Klopp would be the perfect manager for Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers has found himself under pressure in recent days after his side slumped to their second successive Premier League defeat.
Liverpool lost 3-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford after suffering a 3-0 defeat by West Ham United at Anfield before the international break to leave the Reds in 10th place in the Premier League.
Former Liverpool midfielder Hamann believes that Rodgers still has the backing of the Merseyside club, but the German admits that the former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp would be the perfect replacement should the Northern Irishman leave the club.
Hamann is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard: “Klopp would be a great fit at Liverpool.
“The pressure in Liverpool gets bigger. The fans are on the barricades. But the manager is backed by the club.
“And the question is whether Klopp would move there during the season. Had they asked before the season, I am 99 per cent sure that he would have joined them.”
Klopp left Dortmund after seven years in charge at the club this summer.
Liverpool return to Premier League action when they take on Norwich at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Before that, Rodgers’ men travel to Bordeaux in their Europa League group-stage opener on Thursday evening.
