Liverpool transfers: Philippe Coutinho would suit Barcelona, says Neymar

The Barcelona striker talks up the qualities of his Brazil team-mate Neymar

Neymar says Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho would be a good signing for Barcelona.

The Brazil international has endured a mixed start to the season after he scored a brilliant winner at Stoke City before he was sent off in a 3-0 defeat by West Ham United.

Liverpool have developed a reputation for selling key players to Barcelona over the past five years following Javier Mascherano’s move to Camp Nou before Luis Suarez completed a £75m switch in 2014.

And Brazil forward Neymar, who was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, believes Coutinho would suit Barcelona’s style of football.

“I see many Brazilian players with quality today, but one that I like and I think could play here is Coutinho,” Neymar is quoted as saying by ESPN. “He has the style of Barcelona.”

Liverpool playmaker Coutinho has scored one goal in five Premier League appearances for the Merseyside outfit last season.

The South American has netted 14 times in 86 appearances in all competitions since his £8.5m move to Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013.
