Man United transfers: Marcos Rojo reacts to Old Trafford exit talk
Marcos Rojo says that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United
Marcos Rojo has moved to play down the speculation linking him with a transfer away from Manchester United before Tuesday’s transfer deadline by insisting that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old defender claims that he has received offers from other clubs to move away from United this summer but has underlined his commitment to Louis van Gaal’s side.
Rojo is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo: “I have received offers but my idea is to stay here [United] and fight for a position because it is a great club.
“I’ll try to play as much as possible. I talked to Van Gaal when I returned and was upset by everything that had happened but he said he was counting on me.”
The Argentina international is yet to make a first-team appearance for United this season after returning late to pre-season training following his involvement in the Copa America with his national side.
The defender was not included in United’s matchday squad as Louis van Gaal’s men slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
He will be hoping to stake his claim for a place in the side when United return to Premier League action against Liverpool after the international break.
