Rodney Marsh has taken to social media to admit his surprise at the Football Association’s decision to overturn Gabriel Paulista’s red card during Arsenal’s loss to Chelsea on Saturday.

The FA announced that the Gunners’ appeal against the dismissal had been successful on Tuesday afternoon, but that the defender still faces possible disciplinary action for failing to leave the pitch in a timely manner.

And former England international Marsh has heaped ridicule on the FA’s decision, branding their move as an “all time low”.

Marsh tweeted:

The 24-year-old defender was sent off by referee Mike Dean for violent conduct after a clash with Diego Costa during the first half of the Blues’ 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal’s successful appeal means he will now not serve a three-match suspension and could face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Gabriel took to Instagram to reveal his delight at the news on Tuesday evening.
