Memphis Depay will not stop until he’s Man United’s best, says PSV chief

Marcel Brands says Memphis Depay will not rest until he makes it to the top at Manchester United

Memphis Depay will not rest until he has established himself as Manchester United’s top player, according to PSV Eindhoven technical director Marcel Brands.

The Netherlands international has been settling into life in the Premier League following his summer transfer to Old Trafford from PSV.

And Brands feels that Depay’s burning desire to reach the pinnacle of the game will ensure that he develops into one of the Red Devils’ top players.

Brands told Voetbal International: “Will Memphis become a world star? I would dare to put my money on it.

“He is a boy who has enormous intrinsic qualities and who knows how to connect with his huge willpower and focus.

“He will not be satisfied with being at Manchester United or his salary, he will want to be the best at Manchester United.

“He is very eager. Not only on the pitch, where he pursues perfection, but also off it.

“He even hires a nutritionist, just to name one person.”

Depay has been a regular fixture in Manchester United’s first-team since joining the Old Trafford outfit from PSV back in May.

The 21-year-old has started all four of United’s Premier League games but was unable to prevent Louis van Gaal’s men from slumping to a surprise 2-1 defeat by Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in their most recent outing.

Depay and his United colleagues will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
