Morgan Schneiderlin: Don’t compare Man United signing to Thierry Henry
Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin says Anthony Martial won't have any problems adapting to Premier League
Morgan Schneiderlin has played down comparisons between Manchester United signing Anthony Martial and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
The 19-year-old, who has been called up to the France squad for the international, penned a long-term deal with the Red Devils after United agreed a £36m fee with Ligue 1 side Monaco.
He’ll settle in very quickly and everything will be alright
Martial has scored 11 goals in 52 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon and Monaco, which is more than other teenager in European football since the start of last season.
But Schneiderlin, who is also part of Didier Deschamps’s Les Bleus squad for their upcoming games, says Martial won’t have any problems adjusting to the Premier League.
“He is a talented and powerful striker, who’s compared to Thierry Henry… well, it’s you [the media] who make that comparison, but let’s not put too much pressure on him!” Schneiderlin is quoted as saying by United’s website.
“I think he has big potential and his playing style will be suited to England. At a club like United, a striker is expected to score a lot of goals but he has to put this aside, believe in his talent and play like he knows how to.
“But knowing the United players, he’ll settle in very quickly and everything will be alright.”
Martial is still waiting to make his first appearance for the France national team.
The 19-year-old has scored four times in 12 games for France’s Under-21 side since his first call-up in 2013.
The French forward was just one of six summer signings at Old Trafford.
