Mourinho gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Maccabi Tel Aviv clash
Oscar is set to return to the Chelsea squad for Wednesday's Champions League opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv
Oscar will return to the Chelsea squad for Wednesday’s Champions League opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv, but Radamel Falcao is out, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
The Brazilian has been out of action for more than a month, with the midfielder not having featured for the west London side since suffering an undisclosed injury during the 2-2 draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the season.
Falcao, who joined the Blues from Monaco on a season-long loan deal, has come off the bench in all five of Chelsea’s Premier League matches this season but will miss Wednesday’s European clash with a “little problem”, Mourinho said.
And Mourinho also revealed that Baba Rahman would make his debut at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday following his summer move to the club from Augsburg.
Mourinho told his pre-match news conference: “Falcao has a little problem. He is not in the squad. He had a problem in a tendon during training. It will just be for this game.”
On Oscar, he continued: “Is he fit as in not injured? Yes. Is he at top condition? No. He is selected though and he will be in the squad. Baba will be selected as well.”
Chelsea head into Wednesday’s game after their stuttering start to the Premier League season continued on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.
