Nathaniel Clyne: Liverpool will be at Man United’s throats

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne says the Reds will be ready for Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday

Nathaniel Clyne says Liverpool will be at Manchester United’s throats from the start at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The Reds make the trip to their bitter rivals as Brendan Rodgers’s side look to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat by West Ham United at Anfield in their last Premier League outing.

We need to be at their throats from the start

The England international helped the Merseyside outfit keep three successive clean sheets before their shock result against the Hammers.

And Clyne, who moved to Liverpool from Southampton earlier this summer, warned his Reds team-mates that they’ll have to press Louis van Gaal’s side from the start.

“We need to be at their throats from the start, not let them settle in the game, and with the quality we have up front we can cause them problems,” Clyne told Liverpool’s website.

“Working hard, playing on the front foot and taking the game to them is going to be key. We can’t allow them to pass the ball around as they like to or have too much free space.”

The England full-back has scored a respectable five goals in 104 appearances for the south coast club during a three-year stay at St Mary’s.

Liverpool have already signed Brazil international Roberto Firmino, Manchester City midfielder James Milner, Burnley striker Danny Ings, Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez this summer.
