Paul Merson: Why Arsenal will scrape to victory at Leicester City
Paul Merson is backing Arsenal to seal a narrow win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday
Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to secure a narrow victory over Leicester City when they return to Premier League action on Saturday.
The north London side head to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Chelsea in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend.
Arsene Wenger’s men did secure a win on Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the third round of the League Cup, thanks to Mathieu Flamini’s two goals.
And former Arsenal midfielder Merson feels that the Gunners will have just enough to beat City as they look to head back to London with three points on Saturday evening.
Merson told Sky Sports: “I’m going with Arsenal here, but only just. Unlike Villa and Stoke, if Arsenal go 2-0 up I can’t see them dropping it.
“Leicester have done brilliantly well so far and have shown tonnes of character, but this is one for Arsenal.
“Alexis Sanchez came on and did well on Wednesday night, and I fancy him to score at the King Power Stadium.
“This is Claudio Ranieri’s toughest test yet, and although they’ll have the home crowd behind them, I see Arsenal picking them up.”
Arsenal head into Saturday’s clash in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points behind early leaders Manchester City.
