Mesut Ozil was feeling in a nostalgic mood on Wednesday evening as he took to social media to reflect on the two-year anniversary of his transfer to Arsenal from Real Madrid.

The Germany playmaker joined the Gunners in a dramatic deadline-day transfer back on 2 September 2013 as Arsene Wenger bolstered his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.

Ozil has since been a regular in the north London side’s starting line-up and has helped Wenger’s side win back-to-back FA Cup titles in his first two seasons at the club.

And the World Cup winner reflected on his transfer by posting the picture above on his personal Instagram account and writing: “Two years ago today … I became a Gunner 😊😉 #YaGunnersYa #BeTheDifference #Arsenal #Flashback”

Ozil will be hoping to be fit for Arsenal’s next Premier League game when they take on Stoke City at Emirates Stadium on 12 September after the international break.

The midfielder missed Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend with a minor knee injury.
