The World Cup winner promises Manchester United will give their best

Bastian Schweinsteiger has issued a late rallying cry ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Southampton at St Mary’s.

The Red Devils are looking to get back to winning ways after a 2-1 defeat by PSV Eindhoven in their Champions League group-stage opener last Tuesday.

Schweinsteiger was part of the United side that suffered defeat in the Netherlands just days after a morale-boosting 3-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool.

And the ever-popular World Cup winner took to his Instagram page to urge United to victory ahead of their clash against the Saints.

Schweinsteiger wrote: “Matchday. We will give our best against Southampton! #mufc”

The 31-year-old The World Cup winner has made seven appearances for the Red Devils since his £8.3m move to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The Germany legend made his full Premier League debut in a goalless draw with Newcastle United last month.
