Bastian Schweinsteiger pays tribute to Andreas Pereira after the youngster helped Manchester United beat Ipswich 3-0
Bastian Schweinsteiger took to social media on Thursday morning to pay tribute to Andreas Pereira after the teenager netted his first goal for Manchester United in Wednesday night’s League Cup win over Ipswich Town.
Wayne Rooney scored his first domestic goal of the season to put United ahead in the 23rd minute at Old Trafford.
Pereira then scored a stunning free-kick to double the lead on the hour mark on his first start for the club.
And substitute Anthony Martial then slotted home a third in stoppage time to send the Red Devils through to the fourth round, where they face a home clash with Middlesbrough.
Schweinsteiger played the full 90 minutes for Louis van Gaal’s side during the Old Trafford victory.
And the World Cup winner was quick to pay tribute to Pereira after the victory.
He posted the picture above of himself on his Instagram account and wrote: “Happy about our victory against Ipswich. Congrats to @andreaspereira44 for scoring his first #mufc goal. Well done!”
Manchester United return to action with a home clash against Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
