Didier Drogba reassures Petr Cech that the Arsenal No1 will get warm welcome at former club Chelsea
Didier Drogba has reassured Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech that he will get a warm welcome at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Arsenal shot stopper returns to his former club for the first time since his £11m move across London in the summer transfer window.
Cech enjoyed an 11 year career at the Blues, which included winning four Premier League titles, the Champions League crown, the Europa League, four FA Cups and three League Cups.
Drogba was part of the same Chelsea side for much of that success, and the legendary Blues striker sent a message to Cech on Instagram ahead of Saturday’s London derby.
Drogba posted on the photo-sharing app: “I know @petrcech will get the best reception ever from @chelseafc fans as he’s been the Guardian of the Blues Temple for all these successful years!!!💙💙💙💙💙💙 Enjoy mon Ami, Number one Legend 😉, but…Come on You Bluuuuuuues !!! #onceabluealwaysablue #withoutyouthestorywouldbedifferent #leader #bestgoalkeeperintheworld #bluelegend #penaltysaver #historymakers #onenightinmunich #elevenyearsinblue”
Cech and Drogba won their fourth Premier League winner’s medal last season before their respective departures in the summer.
The Ivory Coast striker moved to Major League Soccer outfit Montreal Impact.
Cech helped Arsenal to beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley earlier this season.
