Diego Costa is ready to face Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Champions League opener
Diego Costa has taken to social media in an attempt to inspire his side to a much-needed win ahead of their Champions League clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
The Blues have made their worst start to a Premier League season in 29 years, so Europe’s premier club competition will come as welcome relief to Jose Mourinho’s team.
The Portuguese coach has reportedly banned his players from engaging in ‘banter’ after a demoralising 3-1 loss away to Everton at the weekend, which saw the defending champions slump to 17th in the table.
The £32million front-man, who scored Premier League 20 goals last term, posted the above picture on his Instagram account.
Costa wrote: “Ready for tomorrow’s @chelseafc #UCL”
Claims by Talksport commentator Stan Collymore of a recent bust-up between Costa, who has just a single goal this season, and club captain John Terry have been dismissed by senior Chelsea sources as ‘utter nonsense’.
