Emmanuel Adebayor had this to say after the termination of his Tottenham Hotspur contract
Emmanuel Adebayor took to social media to wish Tottenham Hotspur all the best for the rest of the season after the striker was released from his contract with the north London club by mutual consent.
The 31-year-old forward had not featured for the Lilywhites this season and was left out of both the club’s Europa League and Premier League squads.
Adebayor arrived at Tottenham from Manchester City in a £5m deal in 2012 and had a year to run on his deal with the north London side.
Spurs announced the termination of his contract on Sunday morning, with the terms of the decision left undisclosed.
And Adebayor reacted to the official confirmation late on Sunday afternoon by posting the pictures above on his personal Instagram account and writing: “I can confirm that I have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to terminate my contract.
“I wish to thank the club and the fans for my time there and I wish them well for the forthcoming season.”
Tottenham returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Ryan Mason’s 82nd-minute goal handed them a 1-0 victory at Sunderland.
