Bayer Leverkusen signing Javier Hernandez sends a message to Manchester United after his move
Javier Hernandez has sent a touching message to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United fans after the striker joined Bayer Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old completed a £7.3m move to the Bundesliga side on Monday after Hernandez struggled to tie down a starting spot in Louis van Gaal’s side at the start of the Premier League campaign.
The Mexico international, who hasn’t started a Premier League game in 2015, joined Real Madrid on loan last season after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Hernandez, who has signed a three-year contract with Leverkusen, opted to send a special thanks to former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the players and the supporters after the end of his four-year career at Old Trafford.
Hernandez wrote on his Instagram page: “I want to thank Sir Alex Ferguson & Jim Lawlor, the club staff, all the players I played with; but specially I want to thank all the Manchester United fans in the UK and all around the world for the incredible support I’ve had this past 4 years and all the best wishes they have for me in my new chapter!! #MUFC #GGMU #2premierleagues #19&20 #60goals #85starts #thankyou”
Hernandez scored 59 goals in 156 appearances for United after he moved from hometown club Chivas de Guadalajara in 2010.
The Mexican forward won two Premier League titles during his four-year stay at Old Trafford.
