Simon Mignolet speaks of his disappointment to not secure a win in game number 100
Simon Mignolet has admitted that he was disappointed not to secure victory on a landmark night for the Liverpool goalkeeper in Bordeaux on Thursday.
The Belgium international made his 100th appearance for the Merseyside outfit as Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in their Europa League group-stage opener.
Mignolet has established himself as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper since his move to Anfield from Sunderland in an £11m deal in 2013.
And the 27-year-old shot stopper took to his Instagram page to reflect on the feat despite a disappointing stalemate against their French opponents.
Mignolet wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Proud and happy to play for #LFC for the 100th time! Unfortunately we couldn’t celebrate it with a win and a clean sheet but a point is not bad away from home… #hopefullymanymoretocome #YNWA”
Liverpool looked to be heading for three points in the Europa League group-stage opener after Adam Lallana broke the deadlock against Bordeaux in the second half.
However, Jessie Ferreira Vieira equalised for the hosts in the final 10 minutes of Thursday night’s clash in France.
