Manchester United and Southampton wish Luke Shaw a speedy recovery after horror injury

Manchester United and Southampton were quick to dedicate Instagram messages to injury victim Luke Shaw on Tuesday night..

The United left-back had to be stretchered off following a double leg fracture after the 20-year-old defender PSV Eindhoven star Hector Moreno’s heavy challenge in their 2-1 loss at Philips Stadion.

Shaw received treatment on the pitch for 10 minutes before he was replaced, and United have confirmed that the full-back will undergo an operation in Manchester.

And the 20-time English champions took to Instagram to pay tribute to the youngster following their defeat in Eindhoven in their opening Champions League group-stage game.

United wrote in their caption on the photo-sharing app: “Our thoughts are with @LukeShaw23, who has suffered a double fracture of the leg. Get well soon, Luke! #mufc”

In a touch of class, Shaw’s former club Southampton also took to Twitter to send a message to their former youth product.

Clearly moved by the sentiment, the United defender responded to his former employers.

Shaw moved to United from Southampton in a reported £27m fee in 2014.
