Chris Smalling reflects on making his senior international debut for England
Chris Smalling took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to reflect on the four-year anniversary of making his senior England debut.
The defender made his first appearance for the Three Lions against Bulgaria in their Euro 2012 qualifier back on 2 September 2011 and has gone on to earn 18 caps for the national side.
And the Manchester United man reflected on his debut on Wednesday afternoon, as he posted the pictures above on his personal Instagram account.
Smalling shared the snaps on the photo-sharing app and wrote: “Made my @england debut 4 years ago today! Looking forward to the upcoming two games ⚽️”
The 25-year-old defender has been a regular fixture in Louis van Gaal’s first team so far this season and has featured in all four of the Premier League side’s opening top-flight games this term.
The centre-half has made more than 100 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club from Fulham back in 2010.
United return to Premier League action when they host Liverpool after the international break on 12 September.
