Manchester United have turned up the stakes on social media ahead of Liverpool's visit to Old Trafford

Manchester United used their official Instagram account to warn Liverpool that the Red Devils are out to replicate their 3-0 win over the Merseyside outfit at Old Trafford this weekend.

Goals from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie handed Louis van Gaal’s side a thumping victory on 14 December 2014 as United secured an impressive win over their local rivals.

United then followed up that victory by beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in the return game on Merseyside on 22 March 2015 as the Red Devils closed in on qualification for this season’s Champions League.

And with Van Gaal’s men set to welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford this weekend with both sides level on points, the Red Devils used their official Instagram account to signal their intentions ahead of the clash.

Manchester United uploaded the photo above onto the app and wrote: “We’d love another day like this on Saturday. #mufc”
