Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata rallies the Red Devils troops ahead of their clash against Liverpool on Saturday
Juan Mata says he can’t wait for Manchester United to face Liverpool at Old Trafford as the midfielder looks to replicate his devastating performance at Anfield last season.
The Spain international produced one of his best performances in a Red Devils shirt after he scored either side of half-time in a 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Merseyside to effectively end the Reds’s bid to finish in top four.
Mata, who moved to United from Chelsea in a £37.1m deal in January 2013, opened his account for the Premier League season with the opener in a 2-1 defeat by Swansea City at Liberty Stadium.
The 26-year-old midfielder took to Instagram to rally his United team-mates as Louis van Gaal’s side look to respond to their Liberty Stadium setback.
Mata wrote on his Instagram page: “Back in Manchester after a good week with the National Team, looking forward to the game on Saturday! @manchesterunited”
The World Cup winner has scored 16 goals in 52 Premier League games.
Mata netted nine times in 33 top-flight appearances under Van Gaal last term.
