Luke Shaw has taken to social media to share a picture of himself putting weight on his leg for the first time since undergoing surgery earlier this month.

The Manchester United defender suffered a double fracture of his right leg during the 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Shaw underwent surgery in the Netherlands and is now back home as he begins his recovery from the horrific injury.

The defender posted the picture above of himself on crutches on his personal Instagram account on Saturday night and wrote:

Shaw moved to United in a reported £27m deal from Southampton last summer.

His United team-mates moved to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday thanks to a 3-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford. They are now one point ahead of local rivals Manchester City.

Louis van Gaal’s men travel to Arsenal in their next top-flight game on Sunday.
