Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to heap praise on Mathieu Flamini after the midfielder’s match-winning performance in Wednesday’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.

Flamini scored either side of half-time to hand Arsene Wenger’s men a cup victory over their bitter local rivals to send them into the fourth round of the competition.

The French midfielder could be called upon by Wenger for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Arsenal, with Francis Coquelin currently sidelined with a minor knee problem.

And Ozil took the time to pay tribute to the midfielder by posting a few pictures from Arsenal’s final training session before their trip up north.

Ozil shared the pictures above on his personal Instagram account on Friday and wrote: “Training ahead of #LCFCvAFC with my White-Hart-Lane-double-score-bro @mathieuflamini 😁😉 #arsenal #gunners #bpl”
