Mesut Ozil sends his best wishes to Danny Welbeck after the Arsenal striker undergoes knee surgery
Mesut Ozil took to social media on Thursday afternoon to wish Danny Welbeck a speedy recovery after the Arsenal striker underwent knee surgery this week.
The England international has been ruled out for a period of months after going under the knife to address the problem in his left knee.
Welbeck has not featured for Arsenal since April but it had been hoped that the forward could recover from the problem without the need to undergo surgery.
However, the Gunners confirmed the news of the procedure on Thursday afternoon, prompting Arsenal playmaker Ozil to send a get-well-soon message to his team-mate.
Ozil shared the photo above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Stay strong and get well soon, Danny! 💪✊ #Arsenal #AFC #Welbeck”
The striker scored eight goals in his first 34 games for Arsenal after joining the north London club from rivals Manchester United last summer.
Welbeck’s last appearance for the club came in the 2-1 win over Reading back on 18 April.
Arsenal, who are currently sixth in the Premier League table, return to top-flight action when they host Stoke City at Emirates Stadium after the international break.
